Program Statement
Building Tomorrow's Thinkers, Today
KidsLogic is a structured learning program designed to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and logical reasoning in children.
KidLogic Childcare Learning Centers have been serving families in our communities since 2005. Our safe, nurturing environments allow children to develop to their full potential.
Our vision is ever evolving to meet the needs of the children and their families in the communities that we serve. Our programs are as unique as the children in our care.
We view children as being competent, capable, curious and rich in potential.
Kidlogic has developed our program statement based on the document How Does Learning Happen.
Health, Safety & Nutrition
KidLogic strives to promote the health, safety, nutrition and well-being of the children in our care. This is achieved by:
- Maintaining sanitary practices
- Daily health checks and continuous observation for symptoms of illness
- Ensuring children's immunizations are up to date and monitored
- Serving food that meets the recommendations set out in the Health Canada documents "Eating Well with Canada's Food Guide", "Eating Well with Canada's Food Guide – First Nations, Inuit and Métis" or "Nutrition for Healthy Term Infants"
- Offering children lunch and 2 snacks daily
- Ensuring water is available to children all day
- Maintaining ratios
- Keeping accurate attendance records
- Ensuring all staff are trained in Standard First Aid, CPR and Anaphylaxis
- Having current Vulnerable Sector Check and/or declarations for each staff
- Maintaining up to date immunization and health checks for staff
Relationships
We endeavor to cultivate authentic relationships through the support of positive and responsive interactions amongst the children, parents, childcare providers and staff.
Staff and Parent Relationships
Relationships between Staff and Parents are maintained by:
- Providing daily logs
- Monthly calendars
- Providing program plans with daily activities
- Creating semi-yearly newsletters
- Exchanging information about children at greetings and departures
- Welcoming and encouraging parent participation in program
- Welcoming parent participation on field trips
- Inviting parents to special events
- Encouraging parents to visit prior to starting childcare
Staff to Children Relationships
Staff to Children relationships are fostered by:
- Ensuring warm greetings and departures
- Providing opportunities for one on one interactions as well as group interactions
- Encouraging prosocial behaviour and self-regulation
- Providing opportunities for small groups and solitary play
Inter-Staff Relationships
We encourage inter staff relationships through:
- Our communication log
- Regular staff meetings
- Individual coaching sessions
- Team meetings
Children are encouraged to communicate and interact positively to help develop their self-regulation. Staff act as positive role models by interacting respectfully with children, parents and each other. They demonstrate positive social behaviours such as care, concern, empathy and fairness and encourage children to do the same.
Play, Exploration & Learning
Through pedagogical approaches we provide experiences that reflect the children's interest and environment, while exploring new opportunities for learning.
KidLogic designs the children's day to allow for teacher supported activities such as large group, small group, and outdoor teacher led activities. There is also ample opportunity for children to independently explore the interest centers in the classroom as well as exploring independently in the playground.
We will foster children's exploration, play and inquiry. This will be achieved through indoor and outdoor play, as well as active play, rest and quiet time, whilst taking into consideration the individual needs of each child.
KidLogic plans activities to create a positive learning environment which is inclusive of all children, including children with individualized plans.
